SHAWNS ORIGIN

Where did he come from?

Mendes was born in the city of Pickering, Ontario, to Karen (née Rayment), a real estate agent, and Manuel Mendes, a businessman, who sells bar and restaurant supplies in Toronto. His father is Portuguese (from the Algarve), while his mother is from England. He has a younger sister named Aaliyah. He was raised in a religious family.

Mendes was raised in Pickering where he attended Pine Ridge Secondary School. At school, he played ice hockey and soccer, joined his high school glee club, and practised his stage presence in acting lessons (leading as Prince Charming at one point). He also auditioned for Disney Channel in Toronto. Mendes graduated from high school in June 2016.

SHAWNS FIRST STEPS

How did this phenomenon started?

Mendes learned to play guitar by watching YouTube tutorial videos at the age of 14 in 2012. Less than a year later he started posting cover videos on YouTube. Mendes started attracting viewers after he posted a cover from Justin Bieber's "As Long as You Love Me" on the social video app Vine in 2013 and got 10,000 likes and as many followers the next day. After that he gained millions of views and followers in a few months, becoming well known for his six-second snippets of renditions of many popular songs. Mendes saw Bieber as a career model at the time. By August 2014, he was the third most-followed musician on Vine. Artist manager Andrew Gertler discovered Mendes online in November 2013, bringing him to Island Records in January 2014. In April, he won Ryan Seacrest's "Best Cover Song" contest with "Say Something" by A Great Big World. He officially signed to Island in May 2014.

The perfect couple

SHAWN AND CAMILLAS RELATIONSHIP

Since 2015, when Shawn and Camilla released "I Know What You Did Last Summer", there has been a lot of speculation regarding their romantic relationship. In September 2019, Mendes finally confirms that he’s in a relationship. “Honestly, I wanna say I wanna talk to you guys about this stuff, but it’s not just me in the relationship,” he said when asked about whether he’s ever been in love. “There’s another person involved, and I can’t say things that I feel. It’s not just me deciding, you know?”
That same month, Cabello gives another interview to Elle about Mendes: “People can say whatever they want to say. They can speculate, but at the same time, we are going to live our own lives, enjoy it, and fall for each other like nobody is watching. That is how I want to live. I never want to open the door for people to feel like they are involved. Like I said, I want it to be mine and [his]. That’s why I’m so tight-lipped about it: because I want to protect it.”
On September 12, the couple posts an Instagram video of themselves making out, well, sort of. “So we saw, like on Twitter and stuff, you guys saying stuff about how we were kissing and that it looks weird, that we kiss like fish…and we just want to show you how we really kiss,” Mendes says. Cabello adds, “It really hurt our feelings.”
Then they proceed to jokingly kiss and lick each other’s faces in a bit of self-parody. See for yourself below.
On September 19, a TMZ camera crew caught Mendes walking through the terminal at LAX, where he told them the couple’s relationship is “definitely not a publicity stunt.”
He also confirmed that he’s met his girlfriend’s parents. “Camila’s parents? I’ve known them a long time,” he said.
On September 27 a fan asked Mendes a very poignant question about his love life during a pre-concert Q&A: “Have you ever loved someone who didn’t love you and what would you do?”
His response? “If I told you the whole story of Camila, it would take a long time. I would say that you have to fight for someone you really love. And if you really, truly love them, then you’ll get them. It just takes time.”
But it looks like the singer’s patience definitely paid off. In Octomber 2019, In an interview with the U.K.’s Capital Breakfast radio show on October 3, Cabello gives what might be her most public declaration of love yet—literally, she publicly declares her love for him. “We’re pretty happy,” she said after the host brought up her relationship with Mendes. “I really, really love him a lot.”In an interview with Britain’s The Sun, Cabello opens up about why getting into a relationship with Mendes was risky due to their preexisting friendship. “It’s almost more scary because you have more to lose,” she said. “When you first start dating a person and you know nothing about them, there’s less at risk there. I think when you fall in love with somebody you’ve known for a long time, there’s more at stake. But it also feels more special because it feels like the love story you see in the movies of people who have known each other for a long time but been too stupid to realize it or say it and then it happens—and that’s beautiful too.”
But even back when they first met, she now says there was a spark. “Definitely there were feelings, but I think we were just too young to know what to do with them,” Cabello said.
During a concert in Australia, Mendes reveals that he and Cabello haven’t been dating “that long.” He told fans, “We have been dating since July 4th officially,” per People. Skipping a few months in March 2020, Cabello and Mendes spent the early months of the coronavirus pandemic quarantining together. They took many, many walks and also hopped onto Instagram Live to answer questions from fans and perform some music. In Octomber 2020, In the trailer for his Netflix documentary Wonder (coming out November 23), Mendes reveals that all his songs are about Cabello. “My song comes on the radio or something, and I’m like, ‘Everything’s about you. They’re all, they have always been about you,’” he says. “She goes, ‘What do you mean?’ Like, ‘They’re all about you. Like every song I’ve ever wrote.’”

JUSTIN BIEBER

The internet breaking phenomenon

JUSTINS ORIGIN

From a "nobody" to the biggest popstar in modern history

When searching for videos of a different singer, Scooter Braun, a former marketing executive of So So Def Recordings, clicked on one of Bieber's 2007 YouTube videos by accident. Impressed, Braun tracked down the theatre Bieber was performing in, located Bieber's school, and finally contacted Mallette, who was reluctant because of Braun's Judaism. She remembered praying, "God, I gave him to you. You could send me a Christian man, a Christian label!", and, "God, you don't want this Jewish kid to be Justin's man, do you?" However, church elders convinced her to let Bieber go with Braun. At 13, Bieber went to Atlanta, Georgia, with Braun to record demo tapes.[30] Bieber began singing for Usher one week later.
Bieber was soon signed to Raymond Braun Media Group (RBMG), a joint venture between Braun and Usher. Justin Timberlake was also reportedly in the running to sign Bieber but lost the bidding war to Usher (partly because of the idea that two associated Justins would confuse the market).
Usher then sought assistance in finding a label home for the artist from then manager Chris Hicks, who helped engineer an audition with his contact L.A. Reid of The Island Def Jam Music Group. Reid signed Bieber to Island Records in October 2008 (resulting in a joint venture between RBMG and Island Records) and appointed Hicks as executive Vice-President of Def Jam, where he could manage Bieber's career at the label. Bieber then moved to Atlanta with his mother to pursue further work with Braun and Usher. Braun became Bieber's manager in 2008

JUSTINS DEBUT ALBUM

My World 2.0 is the debut studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Justin Bieber. The album was released on March 19, 2010, by Island Records. It is considered the second half of a two-piece project, being supplemented by Bieber's debut extended play My World (2009). After signing a recording contract in light of his growing popularity on YouTube, Bieber worked with collaborators including his mentor Usher, and producers Tricky Stewart, The-Dream, and MIDI Mafia. The record follows in the same vein as My World, incorporating pop, R&B, and experimental hip hop elements. Lyrically, it discusses teen romance and coming of age situations.

Upon its release, My World 2.0 received generally favorable reviews from music critics, who complimented its production. It debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 albums chart with first-week sales of 283,000 copies. In doing so, Bieber became the youngest solo male artist to top the chart since Stevie Wonder in 1963. With My World peaking at number five on the chart that week, Bieber became the first artist to occupy two top-five positions on the ranking since Nelly in 2004. The album's sales were larger in its second week of release in the US, becoming the first album since The Beatles' 1 (2000) to debut at number one there, and have a stronger-selling second wee. Bieber also had his second consecutive number-one album in Canada, and in its second week of release the album peaked at number one in Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. It also charted in the top ten of fifteen other countries. Bieber supported the album with his first headlining worldwide concert tour, the My World Tour (2010–2011).

The album was preceded by the lead single, "Baby", featuring American rapper Ludacris, which was released on January 18, 2010, and two promotional digital singles, "Never Let You Go" on March 2, 2010, and "U Smile" on March 16, 2010. "Somebody to Love" aired on the radio as the album's third official single on April 20, 2010, and "U Smile" was eventually released to radio as the album's fourth official single on August 24, 2010. The album received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 53rd Grammy Awards.

JUSTINS SECOND AND THIRD ALBUM

Under the Mistletoe is the first Christmas album and second studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Justin Bieber. It was released on November 1, 2011, by Island Records.

The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 210,000 copies in its first week. This also became the first Christmas album by a male artist to debut at number one. The album was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for sales of over two million units.

Believe is the third studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Justin Bieber, released on June 15, 2012, by Island Records. Looking to transition from the teen pop styles of his two-piece debut effort My World (2009) and My World 2.0 (2010), Bieber opted to create a follow-up record that featured more prominent elements of dance-pop and contemporary R&B. As executive producers, mentor Usher and manager Scooter Braun enlisted collaborators including Darkchild, Hit-Boy, Diplo and Max Martin with the intention of creating a mature-sounding project.

Upon its release, Believe received generally favorable reviews from music critics, who appreciated its progression from Bieber's earlier works. It debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 albums chart with first-week sales of 374,000 copies, and was later certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for sales exceeding one million units. Internationally, the record enjoyed similar success. It debuted atop the Canadian Albums Chart, where it eventually attained double-Platinum recognition. The album additionally debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, and was later certified Gold there. According to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), Believe was the sixth best-selling album of 2012 worldwide, with sales of three million copies.

Five singles were released from Believe, several of which became international successes. Its lead single, "Boyfriend", peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, and reached number one on the Canadian Hot 100. Follow-ups "As Long as You Love Me" and "Beauty and a Beat" performed moderately worldwide, and positioned within the top-ten of the aforementioned singles charts in the United States and Canada. "Right Here" received little promotion, consequentially peaking in the lower end of the Billboard Hot 100, while the final single, "All Around the World", performed moderately in most markets. The project was additionally promoted through Bieber's second worldwide concert series, the Believe Tour, in 2012 and 2013. Bieber's third remix album, Believe Acoustic, was released in January 2013, featuring acoustic and live versions of songs from Believe.

JUSTINS FOURTH ALBUM

Purpose is the fourth studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Justin Bieber. It was released on November 13, 2015 by Def Jam Recordings and School Boy Records. It serves as the follow-up to Bieber's third studio album Believe (2012), and it was developed after the release of his compilation album Journals (2013), which saw him move musically in a more R&B direction. The album features guest vocals from Big Sean, Travis Scott, Halsey, and Jack Ü, while the deluxe version was released on the same day and features an extra guest appearance from Nas. Bieber and Ariana Grande released the official remix of "What Do You Mean?" on October 16, 2015. Production was contributed from Bieber himself, Skrillex, Diplo and others.
While working with producers Skrillex and Diplo on their album Skrillex and Diplo Present Jack Ü (2015), Bieber released the US top 10 single "Where Are Ü Now" in 2015. Bieber then found what would be his record's sonic direction and worked with Skrillex on a handful of the album's songs. Purpose was described as a mix of dance-pop and EDM, with influences of tropical house in some tracks and live instruments such as acoustic guitars in some others, with the help of his personal friend and frequent musical collaborator Jason Boyd.
Purpose debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, earning 649,000 album-equivalent units in its first week of release, giving Bieber the largest first-week sales of his career and his sixth number-one album in the United States. Elsewhere, it reached the top of the charts in another eleven countries. Four singles were released from the album: "What Do You Mean?", "Sorry", "Love Yourself" and "Company". The first three singles reached number one on both the US Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart. The album was among the best-selling albums of both 2015 and 2016.
Purpose was nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2017 Grammy Awards. "Love Yourself" was nominated for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance. The album won the American Music Award for Favorite Pop/Rock Album. To promote the album, Bieber gave several televised interviews and performances, as well as releasing "dance videos" for all of the album's tracks in a project called Purpose: The Movement (2015). Furthermore, Bieber embarked on his Purpose World Tour in 2016, which was his first concert tour to perform in major stadiums worldwide. The album has since been certified 5× platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The album's fifth single "Peaches", featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon, debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming Bieber's seventh number-one single in the US (and fourth to debut at the summit). In addition, Justice marked Bieber's second album to yield a US chart-topper, following Purpose (2015).
Justice debuted atop the charts of ten countries, including the US Billboard 200, where it moved 154,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. It became Bieber's eighth number-one album on the chart, and at 27 years old, made him the youngest soloist to achieve eight number-one albums in the US. Along with "Peaches" debuting at number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 the same week, Bieber became the first male soloist ever to debut atop the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 simultaneously. On the same day, only ten days after the album's release, the album was certified gold by the RIAA. Justice received generally favorable reviews from music critics, with praise focused on its production and Bieber's vocal execution, while others deprecated the album's concept and lyricism.

HARRYS ORIGIN

Where did he come from?

Harry Edward Styles was born on 1 February 1994 in Redditch, Worcestershire, England, the son of Anne Twist (née Selley, formerly Cox) and finance worker Desmond "Des" Styles. When he was a child, he moved with his parents and older sister, Gemma, to the village of Holmes Chapel in Cheshire. His parents divorced when he was seven years old and his mother later was remarried to Robin Twist, who died of cancer in 2017. Styles has an older stepbrother named Mike and a stepsister named Amy, children of Twist. Styles said he had a "great childhood" and was always supported by his parents. As a child, he recorded covers on a karaoke machine he was given by his grandfather, and the first song he recorded was Elvis Presley's "The Girl of My Best Friend". Styles attended Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School, where he was the lead singer for the band White Eskimo, which won a local Battle of the Bands competition. At the age of 16, he worked part-time at the W. Mandeville Bakery in Holmes Chapel.

HARRYS EARLY CARRER/ONE DIRECTION

Following a suggestion from his mother, on 11 April 2010, Styles auditioned as a solo contestant for the seventh series of the British televised singing competition The X Factor, singing a rendition of Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely". He advanced to bootcamp, but failed to progress further. Four others in his age group also failed, but they were put together as an ensemble in July 2010, during the bootcamp stage of the competition, thus qualifying for the "Groups" category mentored by Simon Cowell. The group consisting of Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik, got together for two weeks to practise. Styles said he had suggested the name One Direction to his bandmates and they agreed to keep it. They began to gain considerable popularity in the UK, and within the first four weeks of the live shows, they were Cowell's last act in the competition. The group eventually reached The X Factor final, and finished in third place.
In January 2011, One Direction signed a recording contract with Cowell's label Syco Records. Their UK number one debut single, "What Makes You Beautiful", and their debut studio album, Up All Night, followed later that year. The album contained three songs co-written by Styles, and made One Direction the first British group to have their debut album reach number one in the United States. Their four succeeding studio albums, Take Me Home (2012), Midnight Memories (2013), Four (2014) and Made in the A.M. (2015), all debuted at number one in the UK. Midnight Memories was the world's best-selling album of 2013, and its accompanying Where We Are Tour was the highest-grossing tour of 2014 and remains the highest-grossing tour of all time by a vocal group. After the release of Four, One Direction became the only group in the 58-year history of the Billboard 200 albums chart to have their first four albums debut at number one. The albums spawned a string of successful singles, including "Live While We're Young", "Little Things", "Best Song Ever", "Story of My Life", "Drag Me Down" and "History".
Not wanting to "exhaust" the fan base, upon Styles' suggestion the band went on an indefinite hiatus in 2016 after completing promotional activities related to Made in the A.M. Over the course of their career, One Direction have sold 70 million records worldwide, including 7.6 million albums and 26 million singles in the US, becoming one of the best-selling boy bands of all time. The group amassed numerous accolades, including seven Brit Awards, seven American Music Awards, six Billboard Music Awards, and four MTV Video Music Awards.
While in the band, Styles co-wrote the song "Just a Little Bit of Your Heart" for Ariana Grande's album, My Everything (2014).

THE BEGINNING OF HARRYS SOLO CAREER

As a solo artist, Styles joined Jeffrey Azoff's Full Stop Management as well as talent agency CAA, and signed a recording contract with Columbia Records in the first half of 2016. Around this time, he also launched his own record label, Erskine Records. Recording for Styles' debut album took place throughout 2016 in Los Angeles, London, and Port Antonio, Jamaica, where Styles and his collaborators had a two-month writing retreat in the autumn. In March 2017, he announced that his first solo single, "Sign of the Times", would be released on 7 April. The song went on to peak at number one on the UK Singles Chart and at number four on the Billboard Hot 100. It is a glam rock-influenced soft rock power ballad, and has drawn comparisons with the work of David Bowie. Rolling Stone ranked it as the best song of 2017. Its music video featured Styles flying and walking on water, and won the Brit Award for British Video of the Year. In April, Styles was a musical guest on Saturday Night Live in the US, and made his debut televised solo performance in his native country on The Graham Norton Show.

HARRYS PERSONAL LIFE

Styles splits his time between two homes in North London, having previously lived in the Sunset Strip area of West Hollywood, California. He sold his Los Angeles residence having become disillusioned with the city. He also owns a loft apartment in the Manhattan borough of New York City. He lived in the attic of producer Ben Winston's home in Hampstead Heath, London, for 20 months at the beginning of his career while he looked for his own house.
Styles believes in karma, and when Chelsea Handler asked if he believes in God, he stated that he considered himself to be "more spiritual than religious" and that it's "naïve to say nothing exists and there's nothing above us or more powerful than us." In a 2020 interview with Vogue, Styles shared that he practices pilates, meditates daily and that he had been adhering to a pescatarian diet for about three years. He has 60 tattoos, one of which (the words "Late Late" on his arm) was done during a live appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden in 2015.
From November 2011 to January 2012, 17-year-old Styles dated television presenter Caroline Flack; their relationship stirred controversy as she was fourteen years his senior. He briefly dated American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift later in 2012, leading to fan and media speculation about them writing songs about each other after their breakup. From 2017 to 2018, Styles was in a relationship with French-American model Camille Rowe who inspired his 2019 album Fine Line.
Styles' sexuality has long been a subject of speculation. When asked in a 2013 interview with British GQ whether he was bisexual, he replied, "I'm pretty sure I'm not." In 2017, Styles said he does not feel a need to label his sexuality, adding that "being in a creative field, it's important to be progressive" and "everyone should just be who they want to be". When asked in December 2019 about his flamboyant image, use of LGBTQ aesthetics and sexual ambiguity, he stated,
Am I sprinkling in nuggets of sexual ambiguity to try and be more interesting? No. [...] In terms of how I wanna dress, and what the album sleeve's gonna be, I tend to make decisions in terms of collaborators I want to work with. I want things to look a certain way. Not because it makes me look gay, or it makes me look straight, or it makes me look bisexual, but because I think it looks cool. And more than that, I dunno, I just think sexuality's something that's fun. Honestly? I can't say I've given it any more thought than that.
In May 2019, Styles was named second on the Sunday Times Rich List of musicians in the UK under 30, with an estimated net worth of £58 million, having previously featured third on the previous year's list with an estimated net worth of £50 million. He maintained his position in second place on the list in 2020 with an estimated net worth of £63 million.
